ClosePeperomias are a diverse group of houseplants, with colors ranging from silver to dark burgundy, smooth-leafed to crinkly, and upright to trailing. 'Schumi Red' peperomia is at the extreme end of the spectrum for texture and color, with crinkly heart-shaped leaves that vary from dark red to almost black. This variety forms a compact upright mound about a foot tall and wide. It pairs well with succulents as both prefer to be on the drier side, and need about the same amount of light. 'Schumi Red' can handle lower light environments, but prefers a well-lighted room. It has the signature rat tail flower spikes common to peperomia that only add to this plant's interest.
