Dark maroon to red blades grow up to 4 feet tall. If that isn't cool enough, just wait until the dark red plumes emerge.

CloseRed (or Purple) Fountain Grass is a magnificent sun-loving variety with two to four foot tall blades and gorgeous reddish plumes from summer into the fall. Wonderful in container planters with companion plants, or as a specimen in rock or woodland gardens, this dark-bladed grass will be a real attention-grabber. Not quite hardy enough to survive Pacific NW winters, Red/Purple Fountain Grass is usually grown as a summer annual; however, determined gardeners could try protecting specimens in containers by moving them into a sheltered space once the temps drop.
