Indoor gardeners often lament the fact that the really tall houseplants are just too wide for their living space. One way to create a big effect but in a narrower context is to consider climbing or trailing plants. Smaller leafed philodendrons, hoyas, and pothos immediately come to mind, but another one to consider is the Amazon Jungle Vine (or just Jungle Vine). This specimen stands out from the rest with its green, silver-sheened, arrowhead shaped leaves that can climb or trail up to four feet, but stays a generous foot wide. The tips of this fast growing vine can be pinched to encourage more branching. Distinctive white veins and burgundy colored undersides make the foliage even more intriguing, so plant this one in a hanging basket or train it up a trellis or other support. Jungle Vine will thrive in a well-lit room with higher humidity, so keep it away from heat vents and mist frequently, or place the pot on a saucer-full of pebbles filled halfway with water.
