CloseSay the word "oxalis" to experienced gardeners, and they may call for a blow torch because of the typically invasive nature of this species. Fear not, 'Sunset Velvet' oxalis is said to be well-behaved and here in the Pacific NW, we tend to regard it as an annual. As a small spot of color in shadier locations, 'Sunset Velvet' is a winner, with its vibrant green, yellow, orange, and pinkish foliage forming mounds six to eight inches tall and wide, though it may spread more if it likes the environment. Morning sun with afternoon shade or all day dappled sun will keep this oxalis happy, and it works well as a filler in shade baskets.
