Consider the Dallas Fern the younger sister of the Boston Fern. Its fronds are shorter and more compact than the Boston Fern's, and because the fronds grow on different planes, the whole plant has a ruffled appearance. Though this fern can tolerate lower light, it does need higher humidity, so mist frequently, or place the pot on a pebble-filled saucer with water halfway up the pebbles.
