This may be the plant for gardeners trying to get away from lawns - a low-growing, evergreen, blade-like ground cover that spreads via underground rhizomes
Available in store
CloseAs the need to reduce water consumption increases, many folks are slowly replacing their lawns with plants that are more drought tolerant or maintain their good looks with less frequent watering, and require no mowing. 'NoMo' lilyturf was developed to meet those exact needs, and it appears to be a winner. Standing only two to three inches tall, this distant relative of the much taller liriopes stays green year-round and spreads up to twelve inches via underground rhizomes. It can withstand some foot/dog traffic and is drought-tolerant once established. This lilyturf's grass-like blades stay green year-round, with flowers appearing occasionally amid the green. For those interested in planting green roofs, 'NoMo' may be a good candidate as a low maintenance specimen.
