CloseAccording to rumor, this super frilly, red loose-leaf Italian lettuce was name in honor of Gina Lollobrigida. True or not, this is one of the frilliest lettuces around, forming smaller heads that average six to eight inches across. Plant starts closer together if the goal is baby greens, or eight inches apart for mature heads. Its smaller size makes 'Lollo Rossa' lettuce an excellent choice for hanging baskets or container planters that can live right outside your kitchen door. Harvest individual leaves as desired, leaving at least half the plant so it can continue growing.
