Spanish lavenders are rather whimsical looking, with two-toned flowers that have been compared to pineapples and butterflies, rising above silvery-green, lavender-scented foliage. Don't be fooled though - these are tough evergreens that are drought-tolerant once established and require minimal care. More upright than the English/French lavenders, 'Anouk Supreme' Spanish Lavender is a bit taller than a foot high and not quite as wide. Pollinator-attracting flowers begin in the spring and keep going into the summer. More sun equals more profuse blooms that can be cut and brought indoors. Those who enjoy the lavender scent might consider growing this variety in a container planter or hanging basket on the patio, but 'Anouk Supreme' grows equally well in borders or mass plantings. Pruning this variety back to about six inches in the late winter/early spring will keep it looking its best.
