CloseIt's always a bonus to find a plant that is low-maintenance and is also attractive to humans and beneficial pollinators. Such is lavender in general, and 'Big Time Blue English Lavender' is especially so. This evergreen shrub is more compact than other varieties, forming a rounded mound of silvery green foliage 12 to 20 inches tall and about as wide. Blooms begin in late spring, with an abundance of larger than normal, nectar-rich purple wands that attract hummingbirds and bees. Fragrant, drought-tolerant once established (in the ground), and repellent to deer, 'Big Time Blue' English lavender fits nicely into container planters, hanging baskets, and borders, or in mass plantings. Lavenders thrive in sunny locations with well-draining soil, so container planters may be an optimal choice.
