These thick green leaves edged in golden yellow are less palatable to slugs, and will add a welcome splash of color to the shade garden.

CloseHostas come in so many sizes, colors, and shapes, that a gardener could have multiple varieties and no two would look alike. 'Twilight' is one of the tougher versions of plantain lilies with thicker than normal leaves, so slugs and deer tend to shy away from it. Deep green leaves are adorned with wide golden yellow margins that fade to cream as the season progresses. Topping out at not quite two feet tall, 'Twilight' is a wonderful addition to container planters, hanging baskets, or borders, adding texture and color. Clear away the dead leaves once they freeze in the fall/winter, then wait for the new growth to appear in the spring. Easy!
