A relative to gloxinia and African violets, this shade-loving perennial spreads quickly by underground rhizomes

Product Description

Many shade perennials are grown for their spectacular foliage and Glossy Hemiboea is no exception. Eight to twelve inch long, glossy green leaves covered in fine hairs resemble hostas' foliage in size and shape. Also known as Glossy False Sinningia, the texture of the large leaves are reminiscent of its cousin, the African violet. As if its handsome foliage isn't enough reason to grow this shade loving perennial, white tubular flowers bloom in late summer, attracting pollinators and birds. This specimen grows fairly quickly by underground rhizomes, and can be treated as a tall ground cover in borders or grown in container planters.
