Valued as much for its year-round silvery green foliage as its winter blooms - greenish with tinges of pink - and its compact size.

Close'Silver Veil' Lenten Rose is aptly named, as its silver colored leaves are unlike any other hellebores. While many of its cousins have similar greenish flowers and heavy veining on the leaves, they have predominantly dark green leaves. 'Silver Veil' forms a low-growing mound, anywhere from one to two feet tall and wide. Keep this and all other hellebores out of the hot afternoon sun, but blooms will be more plentiful if it gets morning sun or all-day dappled light. Wonderful in hanging baskets and container planters, this lenten rose works well in shady borders too. 'Silver Veil' hellebore would pair well with smaller blue-green hostas, dark shade-tolerant heucheras, or perhaps the spring blooming varieties of daphne.
