CloseHere in the Pacific NW, it's often difficult to find shade tolerant plants that are evergreen and has blooms. That's why we love hellebores, aka Lenten roses or Snow roses. 'Ice N' Roses Nightingale' has beautifully textured green leaves year-round, growing one to two feet tall and almost as wide. Dusky red to mauve single-petaled flowers appear in late winter to early spring, often lasting up until April. Many of the older varieties of hellebores have downward facing flowers, but not so 'Ice N' Roses Nightingale.' Hellebores are a splendid addition to container planters, hanging baskets, and shady borders in the garden.
