Forward facing pink blooms arrive a bit later than other varieties and stick around a bit longer into the spring.

CloseLenten Roses are a favorite of ours for winter color, but many varieties have downward facing flowers, and it's difficult to appreciate the blooms without lifting them up. 'Dorothy's Dawn' shows off its pink blooms without us having to stand on our heads, and its leaves have silvery veins that add interest to the fall/winter garden. Hellebores prefer afternoon shade during the summer, but can handle any exposure during our Pacific NW winters, so don't hesitate to add them to hanging baskets or container planters to brighten up the dark days of winter.
