Patty's Purple Hebe resembles a boxwood in shape and foliage, but it's so much more interesting. Wine-red stems add visual interest, as do the fluffy purple flower spikes in summer. An evergreen shrub, 'Patty's Purple' may need some protection from hard freezes, but performs well in year-round baskets and container planters. Plant as a small hedge or along walkways, so you can watch all the hummingbirds that come to visit in the summer.
