Fuchsia lovers get antsy when spring arrives because they know that their hardy perennial fuchsias will start showing signs of return "any day." Fuchsia 'Aurea' will be easy to spot with its bright yellow leaves emerging on reddish stems. This variety can achieve great heights, growing four to five feet tall and three to four feet wide, so it's a great option as a specimen for shade gardens, either straight in the ground or in large containers. A prolific bloomer, 'Aurea' produces dainty flowers with deep red buds and sepals, opening to a purple corolla. Hummingbirds and bees will flock to these all summer, and the blooms will keep on right up until a hard freeze.
