Looking for something different for your indoor garden? Consider Ficus umbellata, a large-leafed but smaller plant than its cousin, the Fiddle Leaf Fig.
Available in store
CloseFicus umbellata is a lesser-known member of the fig family that includes indoor favorites such as Fiddle Leaf Figs, Weeping Figs and Rubber plants. Frankly, the lack of a common name may be part of the reason why Ficus umbellata is not seen as often, because it is, quite simply, a gorgeous plant with heart-shaped leaves that can grow to four feet tall and wide at maturity. Reportedly less temperamental than its better known cousins, this variety does best in a well-lit environment with higher humidity, and appreciates thorough watering when the top inch of soil is dry. As is true of all ficus plants, Ficus umbellata is not pet-friendly, so please keep chewing pets away from this beauty.
