CloseFescues are often a grass of choice for dry landscapes, as they add color, texture, and year-round interest with minimal fuss. This Tufted Blue Fescue is a standout with narrow, sea-green blades in a compact mound, growing about a foot tall and wide. Buff colored plumes appear in late summer, rising above the grass blades. Fescues need full sun and well-draining soil for best year-round looks. Once established in the ground, they are drought-tolerant and require minimal attention. Due to its compact size, 'Superba' is a good choice for container planters and hanging baskets. Mounds of the grass can be raked lightly to remove dead leaves and seed heads, or if ragged looking, cut back the foliage in late winter/early spring to three or four inches, before new growth emerges.
