Unlike Hens and Chicks, echeveria don't like our Pacific NW winters, so we usually suggest planting beauties like 'Black Prince' echeveria in container planters or hanging baskets that can be sheltered in a greenhouse or brought indoors when the temperatures drop. Yes, this succulent needs a bit of coddling, but such a striking plant deserves some TLC. If a southwestern indoor exposure is available, consider growing 'Black Prince' as a year-round houseplant. Without enough light, this echeveria will get long and lanky, and will most likely not bloom, so a grow-light may be a good option.
