CloseNamed 'Male Fern' for its robust nature, this deciduous fern can be found throughout North America and is native to the west coast from British Columbia down through California. This is a fuss-free specimen, and can grow two to three feet tall, with graceful green fronds taking on coppery tones in the fall before dying back. 'Male Fern' will grow in the shadiest of gardens, and will fit right in with woodland gardens. Many gardeners will rejoice to hear that this variety can handle heavy clay soil, and doesn't like drying out during the growing season.
