With its year-round, deep green leaves and bright red stems, the Mountain Pepper is a show stopper. A spectacular hedge or specimen planted in the garden, it's equally attractive in container planters. Mountain Pepper will develop edible berries on female plants if a male plant is nearby, but most growers don't differentiate the plant stock. Leaves also have a peppery taste and can be used in cooking.
