CloseVariegated daphnes are truly the saving grace of shade gardens and winter. 'Marianni' has deep green, glossy leaves that are bordered with a band of creamy yellow that positively pops in shady gardens. This variety is an excellent choice for a low hedge or in a container planter, on its own or in combination with other shade loving plants. Daphnes retain their leaves year-round, so not only do they add visual interest to the winter garden, but their heavenly fragrance announces the arrival of flowers in late winter and early spring. Daphnes may get a bit leggy as they age, so don't hesitate to give them a light pruning in early winter, before it begins to bloom.
