CloseNative to the grasslands of eastern and southern Africa, it's no wonder that crocosmia, aka montbretia, thrives in full sun. 'Limpopo' crocosmia produces brilliant coral colored flowers in sprays that stand up to three feet tall on bronze-colored stems. Flowers continue from mid- to late summer when other summer blooming annuals are beginning to look a bit tired, adding fresh life to the garden. Fabulous as the centerpiece to a container planter, 'Limpopo' is perfect for borders and mass plantings as well. Deer- and rabbit-resistant, hummingbirds and butterflies can't seem to stay away. The strappy green foliage dies back in the winter, and new growth appears in the spring.
