Dark red strap leaves with hot pink edges make this a bold, dramatic centerpiece for hanging baskets and container planters.

CloseCordyline, also known rather inelegantly as Cabbage Tree, is one of those borderline hardy evergreens that are fabulous during the warmer months, but may suffer in looks and even die in prolonged cold. We love this strappy leafed specimen for hanging baskets and container planters, and 'Dancing Salsa' is a real attention-grabber with its deep red leaves edged in hot pink. Reaching 18 to 24 inches tall in the first season or two, this cordyline could eventually grow to six feet when moved into a sheltered but sunny spot in the garden. Hardy to 10 degrees, 'Dancing Salsa' may not like our unpredictable Pacific NW winters, so determined gardeners could try moving this admittedly stunning specimen indoors for the winter, but it will need a very well-lit room and a thorough watering only when the top inch or two of soil is dry.
