Close'Sunny Star' croton gets brighter yellow the better the light source. It will tell you if it's not getting enough light as the yellow coloring will fade and the plant will get leggy. Given a well-lighted space, periodic misting and deep but infrequent watering, crotons can grow into small shrubs. It will drop its leaves if its getting too much water or not enough - confusing, but that's when you dig down into the pot to see how wet or dry the soil really is, or better yet, use a moisture sensor. Crotons are not pet-friendly and may cause gastric distress if ingested by your fur friends.
