Chives do well in container planters or planted directly in the ground. Tubular leaves may be harvested when they are at least 6" tall; simply cut about 2" above ground level. Consider cutting entire plant back to 2 inches once during the growing season to ensure a good supply of fresh green leaves. Flowers may be harvested when in full bloom, for culinary uses or for drying.
