Those who long for a tropical feel in the summer garden should look no further than canna lilies. Ranging in size from two feet to seven feet tall, with varying colors of lush foliage, 'Tropical Red' canna is at the smaller end of the scale, but is no less stunning. Large red blooms top stems that are two to three feet tall. More stems grow from the base, eventually forming a clump that can be 18 inches wide. Cannas can tolerate wet feet, and grow well along ponds or other boggy areas. Better yet, this variety is hardy down to 0 degrees, and returns in the spring to flaunt more summer flowers.
