As much as we love the blooms on camellias, we mustn't overlook its outstanding glossy evergreen foliage, especially for shadier locations. Here in the Pacific NW, camellias often tolerate full sun, but it may be wise to provide some afternoon shade during the hottest time of day. Jury's Yellow camellia produces white, anemone-like blooms with yellow centers throughout the spring, a treat for hummingbirds, bees, and humans alike. Its slow growth makes it an excellent choice for a large container planter, but for maximum size, consider planting it directly in the garden as a shade specimen or even an informal hedge or privacy barrier. Depending on growing conditions, Jury's Yellow can grow from eight to fifteen feet tall and almost as wide.
