If a gardener has patience and wants an unusual hedge, one might consider planting 'Nuccio's Pearl' camellia. Named after the CA nursery that first grew this seedling, 'Nuccio's Pearl' has unusual pointed, double-petaled flowers that go from white in the centers to pale pink on the edges. Dense glossy green foliage lasts year-round and makes a beautiful hedge or privacy screen. Here in the Pacific NW, this variety blooms best when grown in at least partial sun, and does well in all-day dappled sun. This slow grower will reach about six feet tall and almost as wide at maturity, making it a wonderful specimen in the ground or in large container planters.
