CloseHeather has long been a go-to evergreen here in the nursery, and callunas provide some of the more interesting traits. 'Spring Torch' Scotch Heather maintains a low mounding profile with upright spring growth emerging in shades of pink, yellow, and red. Those colorful torches gradually deepen to a dark green, with mauve bud blooms appearing in late summer. Because the buds never open, they remain well into the fall, providing that splash of color after all the summer flowers have gone. Callunas are a wonderful addition to container planters and hanging baskets, adding color in the spring and fall, and texture year round. 'Spring Torch' is an excellent companion to conifers, heucheras, and even cold-hardy gardenias in year-round baskets, borders, and any sunny spot in the garden.
