CloseOne lament voiced by indoor gardeners is the lack of color, as few house plants produce any significant blooms, and many plants are primarily different shades of green. 'Pink Splash' caladium's unique coloring makes it a welcome addition to indoor gardens, and growing one to two feet tall and 12 to 18 inches wide, it does well in container planters. Like many tropical plants, 'Pink Splash' grows best in a well-lighted room out of direct sun, with a higher humidity. It also has the unfortunate characteristic of being toxic to pets and humans if ingested. 'Pink Splash' may be grown outdoors in a summer shade garden, but should be brought indoors when the nighttime temps drop below 65 degrees. All caladiums slow down in the winter, and watering should be cut back significantly to prevent root rot.
