When thinking of "colorful" plants, one does not usually think of white leaves, but this caladium is a show-stopper.
Available in store
Close'Allure' Caladium is indeed alluring, especially with the size and apparent translucence of its heart-shaped white leaves. Typically grown as houseplants, caladiums enjoy higher humidity, well-lit rooms, and steady, higher temperatures, though they can be grown outdoors in a summer shade garden. This variety tops out between one and two feet tall, and 12 to 18 inches wide, making it a great choice for container planters. Caladiums are perennials and as such, tend to slow down significantly in the winter as indoor plants. As a result, they need much less water and may even lose some of their leaves. Cut back on watering in the winter to avoid root rot, and keep this and all caladiums out of the mouths of pets and humans.
