Plants like Silver Siberian Bugloss are a boon to shade gardens, adding bold brightness and texture to areas that are often a monochromatic green. As a perennial, 'Alchemy Silver' brunnera has to strut its stuff quickly, emerging in the early spring, with bright blue, forget-me-not-like flowers following soon after in April and May. Forming mounds of deep-green veined, silvery leaves about a foot tall and up to 18 inches wide, 'Alchemy Silver brunnera makes a bold statement in container planters, hanging baskets, borders, or in mass plantings. Deer tend to avoid it, but bees are attracted to the spring flowers. Although brunnera can grow in deep shade, it may not bloom without some sun.
