Orange is rare in the garden but this barberry delivers with its coral-orange foliage in the summer, morphing to brilliant red in the fall.

CloseOrange plants are a rarity in the garden, so 'Orange Rocket' Barberry is a welcome option for sunny spaces. Reaching four to five feet in height but only two to three feet wide, this variety does well in rock gardens, large containers, in borders, or in mass plantings, exhibiting coral-orange foliage in the spring, taking on greener shades as it matures, then cranking up the color again in the fall. Drought-tolerant once established, barberries are also deer-resistant, but the red berries on bare thorny stems in the fall bring on the birds.
