When someone coined the phrase "cute as a button," they could have been thinking of these Pomponette English Daisies.

CloseBiennials are betwixt and between annuals and perennials, usually putting out roots and foliage the first year of growth, blooming the second year, then dying, while self-seeding for the next year's plants. 'Pomponette Red' will bloom the first year from spring into early summer, then will usually self-seed for a return the following season. Deadheading will prolong the production of these dome-shaped flowers, but keep some spent flowers to encourage self-seeding for next year.
