Bush beans are one of those deeply satisfying veggies to plant straight into the garden, once the soil warms up. Seeds are large enough to plant at the correct distance, no need to thin, and 'Contender' is fast to reach maturity, about 50 days from date of sowing. If you're new to vegetable gardening and enjoy green snap beans, Contender may be the one for you.
