This basil may have smaller leaves and a smaller profile than other basils, but it has distinct citrusy notes that enhance the flavor.

CloseSpicy Globe Basil forms a tight, globe-shaped mound that is only six to 12 inches in size. Leaves are small, but with a distinct citrusy note and is a bit more spicy than Genovese type basil. Cute enough to use as a summer ornamental, tasty enough to grow for cooking, harvest single leaves or parts of stems only, but leave at least three sets of leaves on each stem. Most basils lose flavor when dried, but Spicy Globe basil may be worth trying in dried form.
