Basil is one of those herbs where fresh is the best, and the dried version is tasteless by comparison. Fortunately, it's an easy summer annual to grow and does really well in pots. Lemon basil is often used in Asian cooking, and as the name indicates, has a distinct lemon flavor and scent to it. Succession sowing every three to four weeks after the initial sowing will keep you supplied with the fresh leaves all summer, but make sure to harvest everything before the first fall frost, or bring your pots indoors to extend the growing time.
