Astilbes add a charm of their own to those shady spots in the garden. Plumes of color stand elegantly above lacy foliage.

Gardeners love astilbe, or false spirea, for its airy plumes of color and lacy foliage, adding color and texture to shadier parts of the landscape. 'Visions in Red' astilbe adds a saucy feel with its red buds opening to reddish-purple spikes of color. This variety can handle a bit more sun than other false spirea and does well in all-day filtered sun. Regular watering will keep astilbe looking its best, in container planters, in borders, or mass plantings.

Recommend by Piet Oudolf et al for it's four season speak. The bright staple of a shade garden. Blooms for months and then the seedheads persist until you cut them down in the spring. Of all the astilbe types, this is my personal favorite.

Haven't bought from them yet, but the plant is solid in damp clay and almost complete shade. Offers so much when you have limited options.
