An unusual ground cover with swirly flat, gray-green foliage and foot-tall ball-shaped lavender-pink summer flowers.

CloseYou won't find this German garlic on the edibles table because its an intriguing ornamental used primarily as a ground cover. The swirly gray-green foliage will gradually form a mound, reminiscent of a cowlick, that is six inches tall with a 12 inch spread. Lavender pink, ball-shaped flowers stand tall in the summer, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Hardy down to -30 degrees, this perennial serves well as a ground cover in rock gardens and in borders, but of course, we love popping it into container planters and hanging baskets. This fragrant sun-loving onion is usually ignored by deer, and will return each year in the spring.
