CloseChinese evergreens have long been a favorite of indoor gardeners. Easy to grow, somewhat tolerant of lower light, and frankly, hard to kill, aglaonemas are also rated as excellent air purifiers. 'Siam Aurora' is a red aglaonema with splashes of red on green, lance-shaped leaves. Because of its slow growing nature, it combines well with other houseplants in planters, though it can eventually reach two feet in height and up to three feet wide at maturity. Aglaonemas may bloom indoors, but the flowers are rather inconspicuous spathes (similar to calla lilies).
