Aglaonema, aka Chinese Evergreens, gained popularity in the last decade as an excellent indoor air purifier, removing harmful volatile organic compounds from the indoor environment. Indoor gardeners who are more concerned about the aesthetics of their indoor greenery love Chinese Evergreens for their other positive traits - low maintenance, attractive, and they can handle less than ideal lighting. 'Sapphire Suzanne' has deep green leaves edged and veined in pink hues, adding a bit of color and lush foliage to areas that need some softening. Combine this specimen with other houseplants in a single container until it seems to need more space. It's a slow grower, so that could take years. At maturity and under optimal growing conditions, most Chinese Evergreens will top out around one to two feet tall and wide.
